PACCAR: Kenworth Truck Division | Kirkland, WA
Led engineering education from additive manufacturing to design for manufacturing (DFM).
Led a code-named supplier transfer and ensured compliance with PACCAR processes and safety regulations (FMVSS) while minimizing production disruptions.
Led DFM and 3D Printing groups while advancing the adoption of costing software.
Oversaw a high-performing team of manufacturing engineers who saved over $1.2M in Six-Sigma savings and submitted 6 Six-Sigma projects in 2022.
Wrote a Python script decoding PACCAR’s paint formulations for accurate paint costing.
Manufacturing Engineer
Jan 2017 – May 2022
Tool Gauge (TG) | Tacoma, WA
Established a reputation for high-quality work delivered ahead of schedule.
Ensured manufacturing compliance to Boeing specifications, AS9100 requirements, and OSHA robotic safety requirements (ANSI/RIA 15.06).
Utilized 3D (FDM) printers to produce on-demand fixtures, test processes, and reduce the cost of existing fixtures by over 50%.
Designed cobotic cell supporting six part configurations saving an estimated $200,000 per year, featured on the Universal Robots website.
Developed software tool for tracking changes in customer purchase requests, saving hours of work every month for project managers and executives.
Led sprue picker (robotics) implementation of TG’s next-generation presses.
Designed quick-change system for sprue picker end of arm tools.
Programmed complicated picking operations for tools with intricate cavities.
Challenged the status-quo where appropriate:

Some examples of my course work, mid-masters:
On electric aerospace and superconducting motors:
Simulating a Piezoelectric-Haptic MEMS Actuator in Low-Frequency Vibration
Deployment of a Jupyterhub Server
Optimization of a Flying Wing’s Geometry
Analysis of a 10 Bar Truss Using a Stiffness Matrix
This needs a little more introduction. The analysis used below resembles an FEA analysis, however it was computed by hand. The problem had a mesh provided, eliminating the most mathematically interesting part of an FEA process.
Beamed Power
A review of a semi-neglected technology that may rise to prominence in our era of cheap photovoltaics and private space ventures.
